Ride report by Simeon Orme I thought, I would start the week’s holiday off work with small ride to Wennington. I followed the usual route up the Lune Valley, along the cycle path to Bull Beck before turning on to the A683 which stay on about 3 miles before turning on to the B6480 where you get that special feeling when you see Ingleborough dominating landscape, that I am lucky live this part of Northern England. After good two miles of pedaling, I soon turning off the B6480 and heading to the delights of the Bridge House Farms Tearooms where I have workout that can have sausage bun on my sugar free diet. With the clocks going forward nature is starting to wake up from it’s Winter sleep, which for me, has micro photographer I find interesting, has slowing follow the tarmac up to Mill Houses, then heading along Russells Lane and then following the Old Moor Road down into Wennington. Yes at this time of year, I hold my hand up and say I do stop a lot to take a number of photos of the Spring flowers but I find this interesting and one of the reasons that go out cycling. In Wennington, there a picnic table and few benches on the village green next to River Wenning where you can take break from pedaling and enjoy picnic lunch while watching River Wenning flow by on its way into the Lune Valley. After I finished my lunch, I followed Lodge Lane out of Wennington, there a little a bit of climbing to do, has headed out of Wenningdale and then followed the tarmac down into Melling where find one of two St Wilfrid’s Churches in the Lune Valley (The other one is in Halton in the village where live most of my life.). Yes I back on the A683 again, following it back down the Lune Valley towards Hornby for good mile before following the lane to the Loyn Bridge which I use to cross over River Lune. I was soon heading along Fleet Lane and pass Fleets Farm which as side line as Equestrian Centre, like golf you don’t realize how big a business it is to the UK economy until you see the number of horse transporting vehicles park outside one of these Equestrian Centres, there was some sort of dressage event going on. I was soon heading up Eskrigge Lane which surprise myself by riding all way up it into the beautiful hamlet of Eskrigge which is little bigger than you think but you need a large bank balance to live there! I headed out of Eskrigge along Lea Lane which is up and down lane, I was soon on the homeward stage of the ride following Aughton Road through the village of Aughton before turning on to Kirkby Lonsdale Road for the ride back to Halton.
