I bought this variety in early November 2026 from Beetham Nurseries the reason that Clematis alpina varieties can put up with alot of wind damage and its flower alot eariler than Clematis tangutica 'Golden Harvest' which I was planted near it in the front garden.

Plant description: Clematis alpina 'Blue Dancer' is a delightful early-flowering deciduous climber, prized for its graceful, nodding flowers and natural woodland charm. In mid to late spring, it produces masses of elegant, bell-shaped blooms in soft lavender-blue shades. The petals open slightly and twist gently at the tips, surrounding a centre of creamy-white stamens that sway delicately in the breeze, giving rise to its evocative name.
This vigorous yet manageable variety grows to around 2–3m (6–10ft), making it ideal for covering fences, trellises, arches, pergolas, or scrambling naturally through shrubs and small trees. After flowering, attractive silky seed heads develop, providing additional ornamental interest well into summer.
'Blue Dancer' thrives in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade and is particularly well suited to cottage, woodland, and wildlife-friendly gardens. As a member of the Clematis alpina group, it is exceptionally hardy, easy to grow, and requires little pruning beyond the removal of dead or unwanted stems after flowering.
With its abundance of delicate blue flowers, graceful habit, and excellent reliability, Clematis alpina 'Blue Dancer' brings a touch of elegance and movement to the spring garden, brightening walls and structures when many other climbers are only just beginning to grow.
