Clematis tangutica 'Golden Harvest'
I bought this variety in early summer of 2026 from Ashton Hall Garden Centre near Lancaster and its growing over archway in the front garden.
Plant description:Clematis tangutica ‘Golden Harvest’ is a vigorous, late-flowering clematis that brings a vibrant splash of colour to the garden from midsummer into autumn. Masses of nodding, lantern-shaped flowers in rich golden yellow cover the plant, creating a dazzling display that attracts bees and other pollinators.

This hardy deciduous climber is ideal for scrambling through shrubs, covering fences, arches, pergolas, or growing up trellises. Following the flowers, attractive silky seed heads develop, adding ornamental interest well into winter. Its strong growth and long season of appeal make it an excellent choice for cottage, wildlife, and informal gardens.

Key Features:

Height: 3-4m (10-13ft)
Spread: 1-2m (3-6ft)
Flowering period: July to September
Position: Full sun or partial shade
Soil: Fertile, well-drained soil
Hardiness: Fully hardy

Easy to grow and prune, Clematis tangutica ‘Golden Harvest’ belongs to the pruning Group 3, requiring a hard cut back in late winter or early spring. Its combination of glowing yellow flowers and decorative seed heads ensures this reliable climber provides interest across multiple seasons.
