Ride report by Simeon Orme Well did leave a bit to late deciding on where I was going on Sunday ride, so I was myself and took my usual route from Halton to Carnforth, where stop for coffee and cake at the Refreshment Rooms on Carnforth Railway Station. Which had change hands over lockdown and looks like it change name to the Brief Encounter Bistro & Bar. After the cake and coffee stop, I headed out of Carnforth, crossing over the River Keer via the foot / cycle bridge near Hagg Wood and then following the public byway up into Warton. In Warton, I turn on to the New Road which followed for next few miles through Crag Foot and across Leighton Moss before heading up the Row where stop at Bank Well to take a few photos. After my photo shoot, I continue down The Row and then turn on to Park Road, which I follow towards Elmslack. In Elmslack, I headed up Cove Road and once you cross county border into Cumbria turns into Silverdale Road, the ride along this lane was spoiled by to many motorists trying pass each other in over size 4 by 4, I don’t know if message has hit home to some folk yet but with price of fuel going up it not real bright ideal to use car on Sunday. Anyway soon left the motorists and followed the bridleway over the shoulder of Arnside Knott and drop down into Arnside. In Arnside, I turn off Redhill Road to follow the footpath down to shore and then followed the footpath along the shore into main part of Arnside where stop for some lunch. After my lunch stop, I headed out of Arnside along Black Dyke Road which after crossing over Silverdale turns into Cold Well Lane. After crossing back over the county border back into Lancashire, I was soon heading along Brackenthwaite Road and then following the lane across Hale Moss to the A6. After crossing over the A6, I followed Moss Lane across Burton Moss then turn on to Hilderstone Lane which followed for next mile into Cinderbarrow. From Cinderbarrow, I headed along Cinderbarrow Lane for next good mile before dropping down to the A6070 which did short section on before turning on to Whitebeck Lane which I followed into Priest Hutton. From Priest Hutton, I followed Borwick Lane into Borwick where spent a bit time taking photos of the flowers on the village green. From Borwick, it was case following Kellet Lane and starting the climb back into the Lune Valley. You can click here to see the photos of the 13th March ride to Masongill and Towscar Road.
