Ride Report by Simeon Orme I join at the start of the ride, by Howard and Joe who had come over from Ulverston, the three of us headed along Ashes Lanes and along Crook Road to Staveley for a brew at Wilf Cafe. After our brew stop, we head out of Staveley following the cycle path along side the A591 to Ings where cross over the A591 to followed the gated road up Borwick Fold, its a bit out of Ings but it worth it for view looking back towards the Kentmere Valley. From Borwick Fold we continue on the gated road passing through Outrun Nook before heading down to B5284 which we followed down to Ferry Nab on Lake Windermere. We did have to wait long for the ferry to cross Lake Windermere, there a lot cyclists using it to cross the lake. Once we at the other side of the lake, we turn on to second track of the day, the bridleway up to Low Wray again it was nice to see cyclists using it. From Low Wray we got on to cycle path which we followed over to Clappersgate where we turn on to Bog Lane and followed it up the Brathay Valley to Skelwith Fold before heading down to Skelwith Bridge where we got on to next off-road section of the day, the cycle path up to Elterwater, again a lot folk about enjoying the warm weather. We stop for lunch at side of cycle path with good view looking up Elter Water. After lunch we continue up the cycle path up to Elterwater, where we headed through the village pass the Youth Hostel before following the public byway passed Elterwater Hall up to Baysbrown where the public byway turns into a bridleway which we followed through Hag Wood and around to Oak Howe, there be some money spend on surface on bridleway we make a lot easier to ride along, the fields at both sides of the bridleway were cover in Common Spotted Orchids and Bog Asphodel. From Oak Howe we continue on the bridleway crossing over Great Langdale Beck and then following section bridleway which links up with public byway which we followed a bit further up Great Langdale to Rosset where we got back on the tarmac again and followed the B5343 down Great Langdale to Chapel Stile where we stop for afternoon brew at Bramble Cafe. After our brew stop, there was a bit more road work to do as we head down Great Langdale before following the lanes up to Loughrigg Tarn where we follow the bridleway around tarn and then following our next track over the shoulder of Loughrigg Fell and down into the Rothay Valley again there very section of road work before had to get off and push our bikes through Rothay Park. Once we walk through the park with our bikes, we then headed through Ambleside, after we made it through Sunday traffic in Ambleside, we had very steep climb to get out of village up to start of our next track through Skelghyll Wood, we stop part way along the track to look at the view from Jenkin Crag and then continue along the bridleway through High Skelghyll and then along Robin Lane down into Troutbeck Village. After we made our way through Troutbeck Village there was short section on the A592  before we followed the bridleway through Limefitt Park and up to Garburn Road which we did very short section on before turn on to Longmire Road which followed to end where we turn on to Moorhowe Lane which we followed back over to Ings, then followed the cycle path back down the A591 into Staveley where back along Crook Road and then Ashes Lane getting back to the cars for 6pm.
