Ride report by Simeon Orme I followed my normal route to the RSPB Visitor Centre at Leighton Moss, I am not going bore you with details but there plenty dog walkers and cyclists enjoying the early morning air, the main reason enjoy cycling to cafe and maybe meet other cyclists and enjoy meeting other folk, is that during the working week, I only see one other person during the working day, yes it does have some benefits that don’t catch that many bugs that floating around in the Winter months but its always nice chat with someone different. Yes the main reason cyclists visit The Roost Cafe is that we get a ten percent discount and also a lot nice cakes to choose from and has do have Type 2 Diabetes, I only have cake when I out cycling as treat! Once the eating and drinking had done, I try my luck at some bird photography by the bird feeding but there were no takers to pose for me. I was soon back on the bike and heading in round about direction for walk pushing my bike around footpath / bridleway around Hawes Water via The Row and yes I was surprise see a daffodil flowering this early in the year. I should point out once you get end of Moss Lane and push your bike along the footpath around Hawes Water until you sign say its turn into the bridleway, its worth it take some extra minutes out of the ride the enjoy natural beauty around Hawes Water which is part of the Gait Barrow National Nature Reserve. If large group of you I recommend locking bikes up and going exploring the limestone pavement area of the reserve, there are two mark trails to follow. I stop to have something eat at Summer House, which good place know about on day when its raining if enjoy eating pack lunches like me. Anyway after my lunch stop, I decide it was head back to Halton via stop at the village green in Borwick to what early Spring flowers were flowering on the village green which is botanical delight at this of year and well worth stop to see what’s flowering. Yes did enjoy my ride mixing cycling with photography and if you reading this and you local to North Lancashire and South Lakeland you probably already work out my route from looking at the ride photos and for you non locals there several routes in the route guides on this website stopping at Hawes Water to download and look at!
