Ride report by Simeon Orme It was a bit of nice surprise to see Ruth and Marcus who are members of Yet another cycling forum waiting for me at Halton Station, they had travel down from the West coast of Cumbria about hour and half drive in the car. We climb out of Halton up to Four Lane Ends then short section on Bottomdale Road where Lancaster and South Lakes CTC Group pass us going in the opposite direction. We then headed down Ancliffe Road to Bolton-le-Sands where we join the towpath of the Lancaster Canal which followed into Crag Bank. We then cross over the A6 and then follow the lane through Crag Bank and around to Carnforth where we stop for a morning brew at the Refreshment Room on Carnforth. After our morning brew stop we headed out of Carnforth by crossing over River Keer via cycle / foot bridge and following the white road into Warton where we stop to look around the Old Rectory. We then headed out of Warton, following the lane over to Crag Foot and then headed around to Leighton Moss nature reserve where we stop for lunch in the Public hide. After lunch, there was bit more road work as we headed around to Red Bridge where we walk with our bikes around Hawes Water until we got to bridleway which we followed up to Challan Hall. Its worth do this detour around Hawes Water as there some nice views across the tarn at anytime of the year. From Challan Hall, we did some more road work as we followed the lanes through Brackenthwaite and across Hale Moss where we cross over the A6. We then followed Moss Lane across Burton Moss before following the lanes through Hilderstone and Cinderbarrow. We then headed down the canal towpath to Tewitfield where we join Kellet Lane and then after about half mile we stop at Catch-23 for afternoon brew. After our brew stop the rain showers had stop we continue along Kellet Lane through Over Kellet before lanes back in to Halton.
