Ride report by Simeon Orme You don’t realize how much time you waste when you tidy up someone affairs after they pass on and must admit that have only minor role to play in putting my mum affairs to rest and most the hard work is being done my sister but waste about five hours of my time having to take birth certificate and utility bill into solicitors to prove who I was, so they could release the original will to my sister and so far in life managing avoid getting photo identification which made task a little bit harder, so after wasting some time in legal matters after work on Friday afternoon. I enjoy the ride up to Wray, following first the cycle path from Halton Station up to, just pass Bull Beck Bridge where leave the cycle track to join the traffic following the A683 up the Lune Valley through Claughton before turning on to B6480 which followed into Wray for pit stop at the Bridge House Farm Tearooms. I am still getting my head around what I can eat on my sugar free diet when it come to ordering food in tearooms, this time I try sausage bun with coffee without the sugar. I soon got chatting to old cyclist from Arnside about life and photography. The cafe break was soon over, I surprise myself by cycling most the climb up and pass Above Beck Cottage, then following Helks Brow up and over White Moss before dropping back down into Hindburn Valley where cross over the River Hindburn via Stairend Bridge before heading up Hollinhurst Brow into Lowgill where stop for some lunch on bench at side of Lowgill Lane near local school. While I was eating my lunch, a former soldier pass me, do fast walk, I was quite impress how far he got before passing him on the climb up Procter’s Brow. I soon enjoying the freewheel down Spen Brow before heading along Mewith Lane and then along Cross Road where stop take photo of Hill House Farm which dominate the skyline when look back into the Forest of Bowland Area Outstanding Natural Beauty which most of the ride in this national park. After crossing over Long Lane, I headed along the Old Moor Road and then after good mile I turn on to Russells Lane which followed down Mill Houses where took that photo of Snowdrops. From Mill Houses it was case following the tarmac down the Hindburn Valley into Wray where turn back on to B6480 which stay on for about mile before Station Road into Hornby. There was short section on A683 to get through Hornby before the lane down to Loyn Bridge which use to cross over River Lune, then turn on to Fleet Lane for start of the climb up to Aughton Road via Eskigge. Has you can see from photos above in this report, it was time of day which photographers call the golden hour and must admit that did stop a few times to take photos, has followed Aughton Road through Aughton then on to Kirkby Lonsdale Road which followed back to Halton.
