Ride report by Simeon Orme For me cycling about going see what out there and try to take some good photographs. You don’t have travel that far have good day out in my corner of North West England to see some good views. There was only me and my two cameras on this ride, after taking a lemsball view of Halton Staton, I headed the Lune Valley following the cycle path which multi use public byway and not dog walking path, which alot of dog walkers tend to forget when walking their pets along cycle paths. Apart from the dog walkers it was nice ride up cycle path to A683, which is showing its age and hopefully when its extended in the next few years, the surface may get upgrade. I know alot of folk get put off turning on to the A683 put it worth three plus miles you follow it up the valley to the junction of the B6480, yes I know there still a lot of idiots driving motor cars who still think they on M6, use this section of A683 to get to the Yorkshire Dales National Park but everyone tend to forget this section of road travel through the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which is also National Park. Once turn on to the B6480, it was fairly easy ride into Wray and where stop for brew at the Bridge High Farm Tearooms, it still learning curve of what I can and not eat on low sugar diet, I will getting advice on this when visit the diabetes Nurse at end of month, Always found it worth pushing your bike around grounds outside tearoom, after you had that brew and cake, if you into photography, you may find some interesting photographic opportunities. There was a bit climb out of Wray, has followed the lane up and pass Above Beck and then headed along Cragg Road where I wait alot of time taking photos but it is interest lane to cycle along with its own Hall. The one thing will notice is lack of traffic noise and also some great views to look at! I did stop for bit lunch at end of Cragg Road. After lunch, I followed Park House Lane down into the Hindburn Valley and once cross over the bridge the lane changes its name to Furnessford Road which I followed out of the valley. Like on most rides that I do, I was following my nose, I decide head along Mewith Lane for short distance before turn on to Cross Road, after crossing over Long Lane, I headed along The Old Moor Road and then followed Russells Lane down to Mill Houses. Then followed the tarmac back to Wray. From Wray, I took easy option and followed B6480, then the A683, then the cycle path back to Halton Station.
