13th April 2002 ride from Horton-in-Ribblesdale

13th April 2002: A ride from Horton-in-Ribblesdale, by Pat Lloyd
We arrived at the car park at Horton in Ribbledale to find the ticket machine out of order so adjourned to the nearby cafe to spend the money saved.

A few miles on the main road brought us to the start of the bridle path, Long Lane, which heads towards Pen-y-Gent, mostly all ridable.

A lunch time stop by the bridge was extended while Fred fought to free Don from a jacket with a jammed zip and Simeon did his recruiting spiel with two mountain bikers from Leicester. The ride continued with Don now rivaling Elizabeth Hurley in her notorious safety pinned dress, his coat held together with the contents of my first aid kit.

A tea stop at Buckden left us with no time for the Cam Fell track so it was straight up Landstrothdale and the track from Greenfield back to Horton and the end of a leisurely day.
