Clematis 'Pompeii'
I got two plants of this variety one in the front and one in the back garden in 80 litres tubs which bought in 2026 from Gardening direct its one of Boulevard Collection of clematis bred by Raymond Evison.

Plant description: Clematis ‘Pompeii’ is a striking deciduous climber prized for its large, richly coloured flowers. From early to late summer, it produces an abundance of velvety blooms in deep purple to violet shades, often accented by contrasting reddish-purple central bars and prominent creamy-yellow stamens. The flowers can reach up to 15-18 cm across, creating a dramatic display against the plant's lush green foliage.

This compact to medium-sized clematis typically grows to around 1.4 metres in height. It thrives in a sunny or partially shaded position with fertile, well-drained soil, preferring its roots to remain cool and shaded. As a repeat-flowering variety, it often produces a second flush of blooms later in the season when deadheaded. Clematis ‘Pompeii’ belongs to pruning Group 3, requiring hard prunning back in late winter or early spring to encourage prolific flowering.
