Well there must been a few pigs flying high over Carnforth Railway Station, has I join on the ride by Jeffrey who just move to Lancaster with his family from the South East of England and we did have good conversation on the ride about the different between the folk who have to live in the South East and the rest us who live in other parts of England.
Anyway once we finished the coffee and cake in the Refreshment Room on the Carnforth Railway, we were soon heading out of Carnforth on the Shore Road heading towards Crag Bank before crossing over the River Keer via the cycle / foot bridge near Hagg Wood and then following the public byway into Warton. From Warton it was fairly easy ride as we followed the tarmac through Crag Bank and then across Leigthton Moss before heading up The Row. We soon stop part way along The Row for me to take some photos of Ivy on the wall next to Silverdale Golf Course.
We were soon on our way again, following the lanes through Waterslack, then Hazelslack before heading through Storth and Sandside, then there was short section on the B5282 of about mile before we were following the Marsh Road across Milnthorpe Marsh, then there was short section on the A6 around Levens Hall, we were intending to follow the lane to High Sampool but this was block due to repairs on a bridge, so we back track and headed through Levens.
Once we pass through Levens, we followed the Brigsteer Causeway up the Lyth Valley which is one of best ways of seeing the Lyth Valley at its best. The short steep climb into Brigsteer from the Brigsteer Causeway we decide to walk up before following Parkend Lane out of Brigsteer and back to Levens where we stop for some lunch.
After our lunch stop, we followed the lanes down to A6 and then headed to the Bellingham Buttery at Levens Hall for early afternoon brew.
After our brewstop, we followed Marsh Lane back across Milnthorpe Marsh and then re cross the River Bela via Milnthorpe Bridge before following the lane pass Dallam Tower and through 'The Park', then down into Beetham.
From Beetham, we followed the lane up through Slack Head which is short testing climb for anyone which Jeffrey made it up on single speed bike.
From Slack Head we followed the lanes down to Hale Moss before following the permitted bridleway across Thrang Moss and then the bridleway across White Moss where we lucky enough to spot herd of deer on the moss.
We soon back on the tarmac again following Nineteen Acre Lane down to A6 which we cross over to followed the lanes through Cinderbarrow and then headed down the towpath of Lancaster Canal which followed into Tewitfield.
In Tewitfield, we turn on to Kellet Lane which stay on for next good mile before leaving it at Kellet Lane Bridge to follow the towpath of the Lancaster Canal into Carnforth where I said my goodbyes to Jeffrey and headed back home to Halton via Bolton-le-Sands.
The next ride of the Where's the Brew Stop? Cycle touring Group is on Sunday 14th October and starting from inside Harry's Café Bar at Yewtree Barn in Low Newton at 10am for coffee and cake before heading out on the ride at 10.30am around the Cartmel Area.
