Ride report by Simeon Orme It took me about 35 minutes to bash down the cycle path through Lancaster down to Conder Green, I then followed the lanes through to Galgate. From Galgate, I started to climb as followed the lanes up to Five Lane End before dropping down into Wyre Valley for start of the climb up to Harrisend Fell. There was not really any good views at summit of the climb up Harrisend Fell due to low cloud and light rain. Anyway I carry on through Oakenclough where there was bit more climbing to do before dropping down into Bleasdale where there more lane work to do as I headed for my morning coffee stop at Cobbled Corner Cafe in Chipping. After my brew stop in Chipping, the weather started to improve as I followed the lanes through Walker Fold and down to Higher Hodder Bridge, I must admit that there was quite a bit of checking the map as last time really cycle in Ribble Valley area was about 20 to 30 years ago when did a lot more of my Sunday cycling with Lancaster CTC Section and did know the area a lot better than now do but anyway I found my way through the lanes to Waddington, where I had my lunch in lovely public gardens by the beck that runs through the village. From Waddington, I followed the lanes through West Bradford and Grindleton before dropping down through Bank Top into the Ribble Valley where there find view looking up the River Ribble towards Sawley Bridge. There was more road work as headed towards Bolton-by-Bowland, stopping on the way to take a photo of the cross outside Bolton Peel Farm. In Bolton-by-Bowland, I stopped for my afternoon brew at the Bolton-by- Bowland Tearooms and Shop where I was made most welcome. From Bolton-by-Bowland, I followed up and down route through Forest Beck to Wigglesworth and then on to Rathmell before dropping down into Ribblesdale for short section on A65 before following Eldroth Lane and Mewith Lane along the edge of Forest of Bowland (With short stop at Keasden for eat up in the church yard.) back to Wray where the annual Scarecrow Festival was in full swing. In Wray, I got off my bike and walk through the village taking a few photos of the Scarecrows before heading out of the village on the B6480 and then the A683 down the Lune Valley to Bull Beck where I followed cycle path back to Halton Station. I was quite please with my self after checking the mileage on tracklogs, it was first time in several years that broke the 70 miles barrier on day’s ride.
