Ride report by Simeon Orme I seem get this reaction from folk when I show them the photos on the website for the first " Did you take all these photos". My answer to this is "Yes". Cycling with camera can a bit of selfish pastime, has you all ways on the luck out for that perfect picture. On today's ride there plenty opportunities to get that perfect photo, with may parts of the UK still under a covering of snow, with one local group of RSF off-road cycle club doing a ride around Settle Loop in the snow, the Arnside & Silverdale Area Outstanding Area of Outstanding Beauty is perfect answer for bad weather day. So after the climb out of Halton, then the lanes through to Nether Kellet and then following Back Lane down into Carnforth, I was soon enjoying my morning coffee and cake at Refreshment Room on Carnforth Railway Station. So after the morning brewstop, I headed out of Canforth on the public byway into Warton, then headed along the road through Crag Foot and then across Leighton Moss. Once I got pass Slackwood Farm, I decide to take a detour into Silverdale to visit the Wolfhouse Kitchen at Wolfhouse Gallery where they do good range of cakes choose from and yes I will be making this detour into Silverdale again. After my second coffee and cake stop of the morning, it start to rain a bit has I headed through Silverdale Village and followed the lanes around to Red Bridge, then followed the lane down to Hawes Water, once the tarmac runs out, you have to dismount, its is worth for the views across the tarn and once you get to bridleway to Challan Hall you can remount your bike again. They had been a lot regeneration work done around Hawes Water seen I last visited the tarn on the Boxing Walk, with the felling of a lot trees at edges of tarn, in the short term this as improve the views across Hawes Water. I was soon back on the tarmac at Challen Hall and following the lanes around to Hazelslack where I turn on to Dolly Wood Lane which is public byway. At end of the lane, I stop for sandwich before following the lanes up through Slack Head and then down across Hale Moss to the A6. After short section on the A6, I headed along Moss Lane across Burton Moss, then followed the lanes through Hilderstone and Cinderbarrow, then turning on to next off-road section of ride, the towpath of Lancaster Canal which I followed down to Tewitfield In Tewitfield, I turn on to Kellet Lane which I followed back through Over Kellet and then followed the lanes back over to Halton in the Lune Valley.
