Ride report by Simeon Orme It may be sour grapes on my part due to positive test for high sugar content in my blood which I got results for the day after this ride and then delightful health care professional informs me we can see you month time to tell you how to fix problem which seem to be sign of times we live in, anyway I decide to cut down on the sugar in my diet, have evening meal when get in from work and then added photo that I have taken on the day to the website, by time done all this, I usually decide its good ideal turn the PC off and read book on my Kindle before heading for bed. So its taken a few days to pluck up the courage to write some thing about the ride which I must admit I should turn around at Halton Station and gone back home because ground conditions on the cycle paths, bridleways and towpaths were dangerous to ride along and those sections where I was uncomfortable with I got off and push the bike, has I did want spend few hours in A & E department in hospital. So I was glad that I was my self, has the first few miles were slow due to ground conditions, has follow the cycle path down the Lune Valley to Bay Gateway Bridge which I use to cross over River Lune and then followed the bridleway along side the Bay Gateway to Green Lane which is public byway. I then headed along Green Lane, after crossing over Bottomdale Road, I followed Ancliffe Lane into Bolton-le-Sands where decide it was good idea to use the canal towpath to get me to Crag Bank. On good weather day it may be good ideal but dog walkers do live dream world where they are only users of the towpath, so it safer for me to walk than ride along the towpath. Once cross over the A6, I followed Crag Bank Road through Crag Bank with no problem but once the road turn into Crag Bank Lane, there a few places where got off and push the bike along. I cross over the River Keer via the foot / cycle bridge near Hagg Wood before following the public byway up to New Road which followed through Crag Foot and then across Leighton Moss for coffee and cake stop at Leighton Moss Cafe at RSPB Visitor Centre. As the weather was not brilliant and ground conditons on secondary roads were dangerous for cyclists, I decide to followed the New Road back to Warton. The followed the road from Warton into Carnforth, which changes its name three times before hitting traffic lights in Carnforth. From Carnforth I followed the B6254 to Over Kellet and then headed along Nether Kellet Road, after about good mile I turn on to Long Dales Lane, then headed back into Halton along Scargill Road.
