Ride report by Simeon Orme After watching a YouTube video on how replace a shimano RS501 bottom bracket earlier on in the week and then ordering the tools and bracket to do the job from Mr Amazon which took about hour to do over two evenings due to way things arrive from Amazon, its something I will be doing again in another 2,000 miles of riding on the Trek FX3 and also got same sort of bottom bracket on my gravel bike. Yes I was a bit late getting up on the Sunday Morning but soon notice the different with a new bottom bracket on the bike, has I followed the cycle path up from Halton Station to just pass Bull Beck Bridge where join the A683. There some signs that the cycle path had been improve over few weeks with it being resurface in places. The ride up the A683 through Claughton maybe a thing in the past in few years time when the cycle path gets extended to Hornby. Anyway you grit your teeth and hope there no idiots on four wheels still thing they still on the M6 when you ride up this section of tarmac, it does help that there average speed cameras on this section of the A683 and that you riding through a national park which most folk in motor car don’t realize is there! After about 3 miles of pedaling I turn on to the B6480 and headed towards Wray where the Christmas Spirit was in full swing, with decorations out in the village. After pit stop at the Bridge House Farm Tearooms, I retrace my route back to Butt Yeat and then follow the Station Road into Hornby Village and then after following the Main Road through the village, I cross back over the River Lune via the Loyn Bridge, then headed along Fleet Lane pass Fleet Farm which one of those farms which can master class in how run farm with side line in horse riding which bring in the pound coins. I was soon heading up Eskrigge Lane, yes the change in jobs as help my performance on the bike, has would normally would got of the bike and push it up the lane. Once I got pass Eskrigge which one of those places you need a big bank balance to live there! It was plain sailing has followed Aughton Road through Aughton before turning on to Kirkby Lonsdale Road which followed back to Halton.
