Ride report by Simeon Orme In the lower part of the Lune Valley, the early Spring flowers were starting to appear at side of the cycle has I followed the cycle path from Halton Station into Lancaster, about three miles in to ride I turn off the cycle path for short section along New Quay Road which as change over pass ten years with a lot of new housing instead of industrial wasteland that use to be for many years. After about half mile, I was soon following cycle path towards Condor Green and did stop once to take photo of some Dog’s Mercury. You don’t realize how well use the cycle path until you stop to try take a photo and had to lift the camera up to show someone that I had not broke down. It’s shame that the Green Finch Cafe had not reopen, which from notice outside down to the banks not lending you cash for mortgage if you live next door to the business that you own and don’t pretend to know reasons why but its rock science to know this cafe quite profitable business. Any way I carry along cycle path into Glasson, where I cross over B5290 and then following the tarmac across Thurnham Moss and then heading along Moss Lane towards Bank Houses and a lot houses in the hamlet are built from remains of Cockersand Abbey which you can see what’s left of Abbey on skyline next to the coast, has you follow the lane into Bank Houses. From Bank Houses it was case pushing the bike along the footpath to Bank End, where legally you can get back on the bike and ride it again following the lane around to Pattys Farm where followed the bridleway to the A588 which I crossed over to follow Crimbles Lane and then Gulf Lane across Cockerham Moss. At Wrampool Bridge, I rejoin the A588 for short section before heading to Lane End Amenity Area for lunch and that where spotted the Cowslips. After my lunch break, I followed Backsands Lane into Pilling and then Taylor’s Lane back towards the A588 which I followed into Stake Pool. The village Hall in Pilling does opens up as cafe for numbers of days each week including Sunday. I headed out of Stake Pool on Garstang Road, then after about mile, I turn on to Island Lane which followed into Winmarleigh. From Winmarleigh, next good mile was spend heading along Broad Lane, then Cabus Nook Lane towards the A6. After crossing over the A6, I followed Station Lane over the River Wyre and stop for coffee and cake at the tearoom at Daisy Clough Nurseries. After the cafe stop, I continue along Station Lane into Scorton. I headed out of Scorton on Factory Brow which soon turn into Long Lane which stay on until got to cross roads by the Old School House where followed the lane down to Street. After crossing back over the River Wyre via Street Bridge, its was case following the tarmac towards Five Lane Ends, where turn on to Bay Horse Road which followed into Quernmore. Head out of Quernmore on Rigg Lane and after mile once get near Quermore school and church, the lane changes it name to Postern Gate Road which takes you to Postern Gate Lodge where I turn on to Quernmore Road which followed into Caton where I rejoin the cycle path and follow it back down the Lune Valley to Halton Station.
