The view looking back down into Kingsdale

After meeting at Devil’s Bridge, the eleven of us headed into Kirkby Lonsdale led by our President Pat Lloyd for our morning coffee stop. After coffee we headed out of Kirkby Lonsdale following the B6254 to Kearwick, where we turn off and followed the lanes past Mansergh Hall, then through to Rigmaden Park, where we drop down past Rigmaden Farm to cross over the River Lune via the Rigmaden Bridge, we then continue up to A683, which we followed for short distance before heading down another set of lanes before rejoining the A683 at Middleton Hall Bridge. After about mile we turn on to Jordan Lane which is part of the old Roman Road which goes up the Lune Valley to the Roman Fort at Low Borrowbridge. After freewheel down to Holme, we had steep climb out of the Lune Valley over Holme Fell before dropping down into the Dent Valley, we then followed lanes through hamlets of Brackengill and Ellers, we did have to cross a few flooded sections of road where the lane runs near course of the River Dee, we then climb up to Gawthorpe before dropping down to Dent for lunch.
After lunch, we followed the Flinter Gill track out of Dent village, up to the Green Lane, most of the party walk up the track, it was even to steep in places for Brian Parkinson who can ride up most off road climbs! We then followed the Green Lane Track up Dentdale towards Deepdale, the party split in two groups; those of us on Hybrids rode most of the section to the junction where the Nun House Outrake track drops back down into Dentdale, where the rest of us had to walk. What can I say about the rest of track its good walk, with some good views, you spend good hour and half wading through sections of bog, its good ideal to do this track after several weeks of dry weather, anyway we all made it cross Foul Moss and drop down on to the tarmac, then enjoy the freewheel down into Kingsdale. It’s not often you see Kingdale Beck full flow all the way down the valley. After short climb out of Kingsdale, we followed Westgate Lane down into Higher Westhouse, where Peter Kenner left us to ride back to Lancaster, the rest of followed the A65 for short distance before turn off it to follow the lanes through lreby, Leck and Cowan Bridge where we cross over the A65, follow lanes through to Overtown, where we push our bikes along short section of footpath, then join a white road which follow back to A65. We cross over the A65 on to Long Level Lane and for afternoon tea at the Station House Pottery and tea room.
After the tea stop, we continue along High Level before dropping down to Devil’s Bridge via Chapelhouse Lane.
