Ride report by Simeon Orme
I was very please with myself riding up to the start at Milnthorpe from Halton but did suffer riding home after the ride. I met up with six other members and we head up the road to the cafe at Bob Parratt Country Wear for brew and chat! Then after we put the world to right, we head back up A6 to traffic lights in Milnthorpe, where we joined the B5282 which we followed for about mile before following the lanes across Milnthorpe Marsh  to rejoin the A6 near Eversley, we then continue along the A6 past Levens Hall. We then follow part of  the Cumbria Coastal Way pass Low Levens Farm and through the hamlet of High Sampool then continue along on a bridleway back towards Sampool Bridge where we cross over the A590 to join the new cycle track from Sampool Bridge to Stakes Moss, where we join part of the A590 which is now quite B road which we follow for a short distance before heading up side road up to Raven’s Lodge Farm  to join our next track which we followed through to Mill Side. At Mill side we followed the road up to Beck Head and then continue along the bridleway having to wait several  minutes for a farmer trying to get some cattle out of a field. We soon back on the tarmac again, we followed the lanes passed Witherslack Hall and through the hamlet of Pool Bank before stopping for some lunch above hamlet of Board Oak where we found nice bench to sit on, with nice views of the Winster Valley.
After lunch we followed the track over to the Row before heading down another bridleway to the hamlet of Whitebeck on the A5074, we then  followed the A5074 for short distance before following a lane across the Lyth Valley to Crosthwaite. We then followed the lanes pass High and Low Gregg Halls, through the villages of Brigsteer and Levens before joining the A6 near Levens Hall, we soon turn off the A6 to followed the lanes through Heversham and Woodhouse where Geoff and Lynne left us to ride home to Kendel. The rest of us followed the lanes through Ackenthwaite and back to Milnthorpe.
