Rhododendron ‘Shamrock’
Information on the label: Compact, spreading, mounded shrub, evergreen dwarf rhododendron, Hybrid Origin:
R. keiskei (dwarf form) × R. hanceanum ‘Nanum’ group; hybridized by R.L. Ticknor. Award: RHS Award of
Garden Merit (AGM). 45–75 cm (18–30 in) tall and wide at maturity. Slow-growing; reaches ultimate size in
5–10 years. Leaves: Small, evergreen, elliptic with apiculate tips; glossy green above, tan scales beneath.
Retention: Leaves persist for about 2 years. Flowers from Mid-March to early May (early to mid-spring)
Chartreuse to lime-green in colour, fading to soft yellow-green; often spotted yellow inside. The flower are
tubular funnel-shaped, 1.5 in (≈3 cm) across; arranged in flat trusses of 7–9 flowers and Not scented.
Other information: Bought in early December from Bay View Garden Centre, planted in 15L pot in n Ericaceae
