Ride report by Simeon Orme
Well lets get the crowing over done with first, yes we miss most of rain again, when it did rain we were in the Brambles Cafe at the Co-op in Chapel Stile in Great Langdale, it look rather wet in the Yorkshire Dales from the photos of the Bogtrotters Mountain Bike Club of Lancaster club ride on their website. Anyway we down in numbers due to the summer holidays of many members, with Nick and Eileen off sea kayak in North Wales for the Weekend and Peter Kenner was manning the RSF stand at the Bamford Mountain Bike Festival and yes he did very well in recruiting two members which bring total of new members who join the Fellowship to 41 members that have join this year so far! He promises he do a lot better at the 2 move Festival in Preston on the 16th September and yes if you can spare hour to help man the stand  contact Le General Secretary to offer your help! If you are missing seeing Pat and Fred in the photos of last two ride they still up in Scotland and planning come back across the border in early September. I do not know where Don was but he miss good day out.
Well getting back to the ride, believe or not I was half hour early for the start of the ride, I did not beat Charles has he was at the Moor Top carpark waiting for me, soon after the Lynne and Geoff  arrived, then new member Ed. We  waited till 10.10am  just if anyone going to be late before the five of us headed down the Grizedale valley  to stop at the Cafe in the Forest at the Grizedale Centre for morning coffee.
After morning coffee, we followed the forest tracks over into the Coniston Valley, where we join the tarmac and followed the road passed Brantwood, at How Head we follow the road down to the B5285,  at the B5285 we followed this up to Boon Crag Farm, where we followed the bridleway over to Yewdale  (you can ride all this track), we then cross over the A593 and then followed the National Trust bridleway up to the turn off  for the Tilberthwaite road which we followed up to High Tiberthwaite where we followed the bridleway through Moss Rigg Wood down to the ford in Little Langdale, where we then followed the white road up to Fell Foot Bridge, where we stop for some lunch beside the track.
We rejoin the tarmac at Fell Foot Bridge, we followed the road back down the Little Langdale Valley, after about a mile, we off the main valley road to followed the road up to Dale End where we followed the white road towards Elterwater, about half way along this track, we  turn on to the bridleway which we followed over into Great Langdale, where we followed the white road up Baysbrown Farm, then the bridleway through Hag Wood and pass Oak Howe to rejoin ed the tarmac, we then followed the B5343 down Great Langdale to Chapel Stile where we stop for afternoon tea at Brambles Cafe.
After afternoon  tea, we headed a bit farther down the Great Langdale valley before turning off the B5343 and heading through Elterwater Village , after about good mile we passed through Low Colwith , then cross over River Brathay and then followed the bridleway  up to High Park Farm where we followed the road through to Strang  End, where we then followed the track up to Hodge Close and then followed the white road through to High Oxen  Fell  Farm. We then followed the white road and then bridleway  around Oxen Fell to the A593 which we cross over. We then followed the public byway around the back of  Tarn Hows to Knipe Fold, where we follow the lanes up to High Cross and then follow the forest cycle track back around to the cars  at  the Moor Top carpark on Hawkhead Moor.
